President: Professor Felix Ó Murchadha

Prof. Ó Murchadha received his D.Phil from the Bergische Universitaet Wuppertal (Germany) having begun his PhD studies at McMaster University in Canada. He is a Professor of Philosophy at the National University of Ireland, Galway, having joined the Philosophy staff there in 1999. A former Fulbright Scholar, his research is in the area of Phenomenology (particularly Heidegger, Husserl, Merleau-Ponty, Ricoeur, Levinas and Marion) and in the history of Modern Philosophy. Thematically his interests are in questions concerning Religion, Time, Violence and the Self.

He is the author of The Time of Revolution: Kairos and Chronos in Heidegger (Bloomsbury, 2013), A Phenomenology of Christian Life: Glory and Night (Indiana University Press, 2013) and The Formation of the Modern Self: Reason, Happiness and the Passions from Montaigne to Kant (Bloomsbury Academic, 2022), as well as numerous articles and book chapters.
